The National Lands Commission (NLC) Chairperson Prof. Muhammed Abdalla Swazuri has been dealt a major blow by the High Court over the application he made to be allowed to chair the last National Lands commissions (NLC) meeting.
In the ruling made on Tuesday afternoon, Prof. Swazuri was ordered to comply with court orders.
Swazuri has been facing charges of abuse of office and fraudulent payment and buying of land without following the legal procedures.
Prof.Mohammed Swazuri was further barred from accessing his office or any office facility until the application by the prosecution is determined.
Swazuri was also barred from contacting any witnesses pending the hearing and determination of an application made by DPP. Confirming the court ruling, the office of the director of public prosecution (ODPP)tweeted the major win against the NLC chair
"NLC Chairman, Professor Mohammed Abdalla Swazuri has been barred from accessing office and from contacting any witnesses pending the hearing and determination of an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)," the ODPP tweeted.
The application by DPP seeks to permanently bar Swazuri from office until he leaves office. The application further seeks cancellation of his bail terms due to the interference of witnesses who are key in the against him.
The DPPs application will be heard inter partes on Friday 15th February 2019 at 2.00 pm at the Milimani Law Courts before by Hon. Justice D.N. Ogoti, Chief Magistrate.
