Members of the Kisumu Frisbee Club will leave the Country on Thursday for Ohio in the United States.
The team will represent Kenya and Africa in the Frisbee World Ultimate Club Championship.
Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili assured the team of the County Government's full support.
His sentiments were echoed by Kisumu County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Sports Ms Achie Alai Ojany.
“Our focus is not only on football or rugby but also on other games because we want to encourage Kenyans to embrace a holistic approach when it comes to sports," said Ms Alai.
On his part, the Club's Patron John Wa Itumbi said it is the very first time an African Club is taking part in such an international tournament drawing teams from across the globe.
Wikipedia defines a frisbee also called a flying disc or simply a disc as a gliding toy or sporting item that is generally plastic and roughly 20 to 25 centimeters.
It is used recreationally and competitively for throwing and catching for example, in flying disc games.
The shape of the disc allows it to fly by generating lift as it moves through the air while spinning.
Flying discs are thrown and caught for free-form recreation and as part of many flying disc games.
There are also illuminated discs meant for nighttime play. Others whistle when they reach a certain velocity in flight.
