This is after clinching the recently concluded Baringo South by-elections, an indication that the ruling party is still strong in the vote rich region.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Charles Kamuren as winner in the elections after garnering 12,777 votes ahead of his closest competitor Cynthia Kipchilat of Maendeleo Chap Chap who had 8,968 votes.

Kamuren garnered 64 percent of all the votes cast which were 21,617 votes. The by elections however registered a low voter turnout.

The elections were held following the death of the former area MP Grace Kipchoim.

Jubilee's win is an indication that the party is still strong, especially with the possibility of the independent party, KANU fielding a presidential candidate in 2022.

KANU which is dominant in Baringo county however did not field a candidate after Kamuren ditched to Jubilee party ahead of the mini-poll.

The win should come as good news to Deputy President William Ruto who is eyeing the top seat and will be banking on the Rift Valley votes to succeed President Kenyatta.
