Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is in mourning. Joho is mourning the death of the former mayor’s of Mombasa H.W Shariff Ali Shekue.
Taking it to Facebook this Monday, Joho said he was in great shock that the former mayor had passed on.
"It’s with shock and deep sorrow that I have learnt of the demise of one of the former mayor’s of Mombasa H.W Shariff Ali Shekue," read Joho's post in part.
Joho further stated he knew the deceased as a visionary, generous leader who had a very loving personality.
"I join his family, friends, relatives and the people of Mombasa in mourning the late Shekue. I knew him as a visionary, generous leader with a loving personality," he added.
The county boss further extended his condolences to the family of H.W Shariff Ali Shekue. He noted that his death is a big loss to the county of Mombasa.
"We wish to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family for the loss. Indeed Mombasa has lost one of its beloved sons. May Allah SWT accept all his good deeds and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Inna Lillahi Wainna Ileyhi Raji'uun." he conduced.
The deceased's family say he been ailing quite for some time.
“He passed on this morning. He has been sick for long now,” said Ms Rahma, his sister-in-law as quoted by Nation.
Reports by Baraka FM says the deceased was mayor in 2006. He will be buried this Monday evening, just after the evening prayers.
