In the video, Sonko as the host of the conference makes a welcoming speech in which he gives a glimpse of what Nairobi is and what it can offer to the guests.

Sonko’s speech has, however, become an instant sensation to netizens as it is laced with some sort of an accent.

Apparently aware that the participants were drawn from all over the world, the flamboyant city boss sheds off his ‘thug’ style and polishes himself to some sort of an urban kid brought up in the swanky estates.

In his speech, words like ‘city’ become ‘cirrry’.

“I am privileged and honoured to have been chosen as the host cirry for the first eveer sustainable blue economy conference. This grearrry cirrry was established in the yeaaar 1900 and is now 118 years oolld,” Sonko twengs in his speech.

Here is a video of the new Sonko.

Sonko is not the first Kenyan leader netizens have accused of acquiring an accent the moment he meets foreign figures.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was also accused of unleashing a tweng when he met US President Donald Trump at the White House.
