Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's ODM party has reiterated its stance on disciplining some of its perceived rebels including MPs from the larger Coast region.
The party already summoned Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori for disciplinary action, a move that has seen it condemned for allegedly targeting 'the wrong people'.
At one point, Jumwa asked ODM disciplinary committee to first go for Raila Odinga for associating himself and the party with Jubilee party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta following the March 9, handshake.
Dori and Jumwa who publicly declared support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid are wanted to show-cause why they should not be disciplined for going against the party regulations.
In a letter dated September 19, ODM disciplinary committee chairman Fred Athuok, said 10 other lawmakers from Nakuru, Homa Bay and Nyamira counties have also been summoned and should appear before it on October 10.
“The party disciplinary mechanisms will soon kick in and we will inform the public in due time on our next cause of action,” added Athuok who said the party's laws required that such members be given an opportunity to defend themselves.
However, Dori and Jumwa have dismissed claims that they are against ODM.
