A section of Mt Kenya politicians now claims that they will advise their constituents on the route to take regarding the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
This comes at a time when the political class remains divided on the way the country should take with regards to implementing the report released on Tuesday.
The over 50 leaders met at the Mountain Breeze Hotel in Embu town, under the leadership of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
Area Senator Njeru Ndwiga said that after a deep look into the document, they will come up with a decision on the report, which they will pass down to their people.
"We shall look into the report and after some hours we promise that there will be white smoke,” Ndwiga told the press as quoted by the Star, before the start of the meeting.
Nyoro on his part said that the meeting will decide the fate of the document in the region.
The group is the same one that has been contradicting President Uhuru Kenyatta's directives.
In a tweet, Nyoro suggested that the meeting was aimed at coming up with an agreement on whether or not the document upholds the interests of Mt Kenya region.
"The strength of Mt Kenya is founded on Unity. We must safeguard the interests of the great people of our Region. We are African and Africa is our Business," he wrote.
