"The DPP has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to immediately have [the] suspect arrested and arraigned in court," reads a tweet from the DPP's office.

The man identified as Nzomo was captured on a 58 seconds video, battering his wife for allegations of infidelity.

The video was widely shared on social media on Tuesday and angered citizens who pushed for the brutal man's arrest.

Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo and the county’s Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau also joined the rest in condemning the act.

“It does not matter what the woman had done to the man. She did not deserve that kind of punishment. The man should be arrested and prosecuted,” said Ms. Museo in response to witnessing accounts that the man was punishing the woman for infidelity as quoted by the daily nation.

The incident happened in Iviani Village, Kitonyoni, in Makueni County.

The woman in the video is currently receiving treatment at Wote Level Four hospital, while the husband is still on the run.
