Top international camera company Canon on Saturday night awarded 3 Kenyan University students for their contribution in the Kenyan film industry.
This was during the second edition of Fools Film Festival that was hosted by The Vine Gang (TVG Kenya) at Moi University main campus.
The event was aimed at promoting film making at Moi University through workshops and also premier of short films produced by university students.
“Our main objective is to nature young talents in the film industry while at the same time promoting film making in Kenya. We also offered a platform for young film makers to come and showcase their works particularly during the premier of the short films” Eastmond Mwenda, the chief organizer of the event said.
The three students were awarded for their various roles in different films that had premiered that night.
The award for the best film was given to Bobby Junior from Riara University, Bilal Mwaura from the Scriptwriters Guild was awarded as the best actor, and finally Japheth Ayieko from Moi University received the award for the best director.
Some of the short films that premiered include; Entangled which was acted and produced by Moi University students, Alone, Ramah Potter among others.
"I’d like to appreciate every single person who attended the event. My greatest gratitude goes out to our partners Canon, Esko film works, Nairobi Chronicles, KSG, Eldoret Film Festival, East Meets West, Allday and TBE for making the event a success," Mwenda added.
Notable guests who graced the event which was attended by more 300 people included; Canon Ambassador John Wambugu, Director of Eldoret Film fest Cosmas Bi, and the CEO of TBE photography Eastmond Mwenda.
All participants who took part in the films that premiered will be awarded with certificates.
