A former Senator who decamped from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party to Jubilee party during the 2017 polls has backed Deputy President William Ruto's ambition to become president in 2022.
Senator Chris Obure insisted that opposition leaders have failed to organize themselves to clinch presidency in 2022.
He said instead opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga have opted to spread propaganda about DP Ruto thus giving him (Ruto) high chances of emerging victorious.
"I don't want to be left behind to say that DP Ruto is the next President because his rivals have concentrated so much on propaganda, telling falsehood about DP Ruto instead of focus on how they will take over the leadership of this country in 2022," he said.
According to Obure, DP Ruto is a focused and development oriented leader who will lead the country well unlike opposition team.
Obure assured that DP Ruto's presidential ambition won't be derailed because of the numerous corruption scandals he is linked into.
"Ruto's rivals are in fear and this is why they are linking him to fake corruption scandals," he stated.
He was speaking on Monday at Daraja Mbili market in Kisii County.
