The incident happened on Thursday in Mokomoni, North Borabu in Nyamira County.

Neighbours said Jane Nyambori raided the daughter-in-law, Catherine Nyaboke’s house and started the fight accusing her of killing the dog.

“Nyambori’s dog was killed by Nyaboke under unclear circumstances.

Nyambori was angered and raided the house where her daughter-in-law was sleeping and attacked her with kicks and blows while screaming,” said Ann Moenga.

Mrs Moenga said it took the intervention of area Nyumba Kumi official who was moving from house to house in search of illicit brew to have the two stop fighting.

Job Maeba, a Nyumba Kumi official said the woman was overpowered with the daughter and she was beaten mercilessly before they arrived.

“Nyambori started the fight but she ended up in hot soup because Nyaboke beat her up without mercy before we arrived and rescued her,” he said.

Maeba said Nyaboke hit the dog with a stone after it entered her kitchen and ate the meat she was roasting.

He warned residents against careless fights saying whoever would be found would be arrested and be taken to court to be charged over disturbance.
