They said that Deputy President William Ruto should instead direct his fury to President Uhuru Kenyatta instead of attacking  Matiang'i.

On Sunday, Ruto seemingly blasted Matiang'i, accusing him of using his powers to chest thump by undermining others.

Led by Majority Leader Duke Masira at Nyamira, the Kisii leaders accused Ruto of unfairly targeting Matiang'i, whom they defended as a performer.

"The minister takes orders from the president. It's pointless for the DP to attack him. Let him go directly for the president," Masira said during a fundraiser for a youth group."

Nominated MCA Abel Mose added: "The DP should stop being a crybaby. Let him confront his boss. Matiang'i only takes orders. Let them stop attacking him."

Esise MCA Joseph Nyarang'o accused the DP and his troops of 'harassing' Dr. Matiang'i for merely implementing presidential orders.

"We can't allow them to intimidate the minister. He's just a messenger. If you don't like him, just go directly to his boss. Period."

Matiang'i has been under criticism over his Friday statements at Kirinyaga where he insisted that 'there can be only one head of government'.
