A youth entrepreneurship exhibition has been held in Machakos County.
The event organized by Cap Youth Empowerment Institute was held in Machakos town on Thursday.
Its objective was to identify and nurture new entrepreneurs, enhance classroom support to strengthen entrepreneurship uptake, enhance awareness and training on new entrepreneurship initiatives to ensure trainees take up opportunities to support their micro-businesses.
Several young people who own and operate Small and Medium scale businesses (SME's) had a chance to showcase their products.
They shared business ideas and pitched their businesses to a panel of Judges.
The event attracted youths from Embu, Thika, Nyahururu, Athi River, Nairobi and Machakos.
“Through this entrepreneurship program, we intend to give support to young people who are brave enough to start and run their own businesses. Such entrepreneurs not only help bridge the unemployment gap but also contribute to development of the economy,” Margaret Njoki said.
Njoki is a Cap Youth Empowerment Institute's facilitator.
CAP Youth empowerment Institute brought on board such partners as Post Bank and Hand in Hand organization.
Post Bank provided merchandise to all the young people who presented their businesses to a panel of judges.
Twelve winners impressed the judges.
Apart from receiving a variety of prizes, they will proceed to the next level where they will battle it out with other young entrepreneurs from other regions such as Nyanza, Western and Mombasa.
