The New Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai was thoroughly vetted by both houses of Parliament, the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security and the Senate Committee on Defense and Foreign Relations, Teso North MP has reiterated.

Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday while seconding the special motion on the approval of Hillary Mutyambai, the former AP Commandant said they scrutinized the new IG as per the dictates of the law.

"The committee had a very thorough vetting exercise on this candidate.

He met all the requirements of the law as stipulated in the National Police Service Act, Parliamentary Appointment Act and the Constitution of Kenya." said Kaunya.

Adding to his Facebook post on Thursday morning, the MP assured the floor of the house of the rightful person Uhuru picked as the new IG

"While Seconding the appointment of Mr Hillary Nzioki Mutyambai as the New Inspector General of Police, I assured the floor of house under the guidance of the Speaker Hon Moses Cheboi that the departmental committee of Administration and National Security together with the Senates Committee of Defense and Foreign Relations carried out a thorough vetting process of the nominee.

Mr Hillary met all the requirements of the law of Appointment, Constitution and the National Police Service Act," read the Facebook post.

He added that Hilary's appointment is timely as the country is facing off myriad challenges in the security sector.

"He comes at a time the country is experiencing security challenges and he (Mutyambai ) assured the committee on the strategies he will use to put to rest security concerns. Issues of concern raised were dealing with corruption in the Police Service, building trust among the public and delivery of service," he added.

Hillary Mutyambai was nominated by President Kenyatta to succeed retired IG Joseph Boinnet.
