The move to defend Mwilu could be seen as a fight to frustrate President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fight against graft.

Kenyans who are tired of the corrupt leaders could think twice before casting their votes for the Kamba political kingpin when that time comes.

Kalonzo has been one of the leaders who could change Kenya by stumping out corruption.

By defending Mwilu, Kalonzo is perceived to tolerate corruption.

In his submission,  Kalonzo said that the arrest of Mwilu was unconstitutional.

He also said that the DCJ deserves fair hearing just like any other Kenyan.

“The integrity within the Judiciary includes its independence. Of course, the prosecutor here would have noted that it was a raw application and I just want to stress the provision of article 50, sub-article 2 of the constitution, which states that the right to a fair trial of any citizen is basic," Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo has recently expressed interest in the presidency.

He will definitely be put on the spot over the move.

Some leaders are already feeling Kalonzo made a grave mistake by defending Mwilu in the battle against corruption.

Other lawyers who represented Mwilu were Okong’o Omogeni (Nyamira), Senior Counsel John Khaminwa, Senators James Orengo (Siaya), MPs Anthony Oluoch (Mathare) Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay) and Millie Odhiambo (Suba North).
