He went into the books of history as the longest serving military chief.

Mulinge, who is a Kamba, was buried on June, 24, 2014 at Kathiani Boys High School in Machakos County.

His death was a big blow to the country.

Among the leaders who mourned his demise is retired President Daniel Moi. 

The late Mulinge played a crucial role in quelling the infamous 1982 attempted military coup.

He was described as a brave man who never took chances where it mattered most.

His brevity saw him rise through ranks in the military.

"After realizing that Mulinge was a man made of steel, I picked him and in recognition of his bravery and hard work, promoted him to the rank of full General," revealed the source. 

Mulinge’s military career started in1942 when he was enlisted in the then Kings African Rifles. 

He worked in different countries including Malaysia during the World War 11.

He was recognized as the first Kenyan to rise to the rank of Warrant Officer Class One in 1956.
