Speaking on Tuesday, the county boss said that he will write to the Agriculture Ministry to allow the county to adopt the company, as an alternative for its proposed privatization.

The county boss said that he is completely against the idea to privatize the company, and would rather have it remain under the public, through his government.

He made the remarks while addressing cane farmers at the company, urging all interested parties to lend a hand in ensuring that the company is not privatized.

He noted that should the proposal have its way, the over 2,000 persons working at the company will be rendered jobless, reports the Citizen Digital.

The county chief said that he will write to Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiujuri over the same.
