The leaders led by Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman say that the decision by KNEC to withhold results of some schools was ill-informed.

According to the leaders, the 2018 KCSE was strictly supervised and there is no way the schools affected could have engaged in exam malpractices.

Speaking separately on Monday, the leaders asked CS Mohamed and KNEC to urgently and unconditionally release the results.

"We are asking CS Amina Mohamed to release the results since the cheating allegations are unfounded," the Fafi MP told journalists on Monday.

The MP said that they will petition the President to intervene if KNEC fails to release the results.

On his part, Balambala MP Mohamed Abdi Shurie accused KNEC of keeping silent and living students and parents in the dark.

"KNEC has deliberatley kept silent and failed to explain to depressed students and parents on what transpired leading to withholding of their results," he said.

The MP pleaded with KNEC to release the results.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Garissa branch Secretary-General, Abdirizack Hussein said that KNEC's decision to withhold results of some schools was malicious.

He warned that affected students are anxious and are likely to be radicalised if their results are not released.

While releasing results of the 2018 KCSE, CS Mohamed revealed that results of some schools had been withheld over cheating allegations.

Among the schools in Garissa whose results were withheld over alleged malpractices include Busra High school, Nanighi High school, Ikhlas, Al Azhar, Dertu Girls, Young Muslim, Garissa private, Sankuri Girls, Hajji Girls, Hulugho Boys, and Huda High school.
