A section of Migori Governor Okoth Obado's supporters have hit out at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga accusing him of abandoning the embattled governor.
The supporters claim that Raila’s silence on Obado’s tribulations is pure betrayal.
Speaking at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, the angry supporters said that Raila has abandoned Obado at the 'hour of need'.
“Raila Odinga and ODM have betrayed Migori people and we will punish them when time comes,” a supporter who sought anonymity said.
The supporters claimed that Raila’s silence on the governor’s woes is a matter of suspicion.
“He (Raila) sided with those people (Jubilee) and now he not even come to the rescue of his friend and ally,” another supporter said.
Obado’s supporters vowed to lead demonstrations every day until when Obado will be released.
“We will camp (here at the courts) until when we will have our governor freed from the police,” a supporter said.
Obado was remanded at Industrial Area Prison after pleading not guilty to murder charge.
He denied killing Sharon Otieno and he will be arraigned back to court on Tuesday for hearing of his bail and bond application.
Detectives say they are hunting down for more suspects linked to the brutal murder of the slain Rongo university student and her unborn baby.
