Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has recounted the last moments he shared with his late first wife Adelaide Shikanga.
Speaking at the Mukumu Hospital mortuary, Khalwale said the late Adelaide died in his arms.
The former senator said the family had hope that Adelaide would recover, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her illness.
“She gasped her last breath in my hands during the resuscitation process,” Khalwale said as quoted by Nation
Khalwale said his wife succumbed to pulmonary hypertension, a condition where there is high blood pressure in the lungs and the right side of the heart.
He termed his late wife a strong pillar to the Khalwale family.
“Together, we have built from zero to where we are today. We have built our family, our education and our wealth,” he said.
“She supported and encouraged me during the worst times when l thought I could not wake up again. She has been the secret think tank of my political career,” he added.
Before her demise, Adelaide worked at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s School of Education, Department of Curriculum Information Technology.
