A section of wealthy businessmen from Rift Valley has seemingly dumped Deputy President William Ruto for a new political faction.
The businessmen who include David Langat, Joshua Kulei, Zedekiah Bundotich Kiprop, alias Buzeki, and Silas Simotwo who have been supporting DP Ruto since 2007 have been reportedly plotting to form a new alliance that will likely cause panic in DP Ruto's camp.
The deteriorating relationship between DP Ruto and this billionaire class has been linked to business rivalry.
Langat who confirmed that there are ongoing plans to form a new political alliance maintained that their aim is to solve problems like unemployment among the youths.
"A number of things are going on but I don’t want to talk about that because the time for politics will come. For now, let us focus on how we can deal with youth unemployment and other problems we face as a country,” Langat said
He further hinted that Isaac Ruto's CCM might merge with Kanu so as to realise a strong alliance that can form a government.
"We are working on a strategy where CCM and Kanu are going to work together before joining a larger alliance that will have a better chance of forming the next government,” he further added.
Ruto who unsuccessfully vied for Bomet county governor seat in 2017 noted that his party is free for anyone who is ready to champion for truth and development projects.
"They are already there and many others are coming. This party is not a party of sycophants. It is a party of people who want to be free to think. We harness all the intellectual capacities of everyone and in particular, those who are very interested in the greatest good for the greatest numbers,” the former governor said.
Buzeki who ditched DP Ruto's camp citing frustrations from his (DP Ruto's) allies is set to vie for Uasin Gishu governorship on a Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) ticket
