Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has weighed in on the current state of Moi South Lake Road in Naivasha.
The governor has faulted the poor state noting it has hindered transportation in the area, affected investors among other people in the area.
In a post on Facebook Monday, he noted that the poor state of the road is contrary to the National Government's plan to refurbish the country's infrastructure.
''We wish to register our disappointment with the current state of the road, which is in total contradiction to National Government's facilitative role for economic development.," read part of the post.
He added: "As a County, we cannot use our funds to rehabilitate a road that is under National Government as it will raise audit queries."
He called on Transport CS James Macharia to address the situation.
"We have been following up on this issue and we wish to urge Infrastructure CS James Macharia to expedite the contract for rehabilitation of the road to address the current situation and also to work on long term solutions to this perennial problem."
Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara is also among the leaders who have raised concern over the poor state of the road.
She explained that a tender advertised earlier was cancelled because contractors quoted high figures.
''Sometimes back when I raised a concern on the state of the road, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure advertised for the construction of the road, only for us to be informed that the bidders quoted a higher figure than what was initially budgeted for,” said Kihara.
