Police in Migori county is looking for a man accused of killing his neighbour on Monday.
It is said that the suspect, who has since gone into hiding, hit Killion Omollo with a jembe (hoe) over a row involving land boundary in North Kamwango village near Rongo Town.
Rongo Sub County Police Commander Joel Kiptum confirmed the incident. He stated that the deceased died instantly.
“We received information on murder in North Kamwango village. Two people were embroiled in a land dispute which turned fatal. The victim was hit with a jembe on the head killing him instantly," he said on Tuesday.
He called for calm among area locals who have been irked by the said killing, urging them to assist the police to serve justice by offering any information that could lead to an arrest.
“The suspect is still at large and going by his actions, I am calling on anyone with information that could lead to his arrest to report since he is dangerous,” added the police boss.
This comes amid the call of a quick arrest and arraignment of the suspect from locals, who are warning that failure to this could result in retaliatory attacks from the family of the deceased.
The body of the deceased is being preserved at the Rosewood Mortuary, where it's expected to undergo a pathological test.
