Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has vowed to lead the push for Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) success in the coastal region.
Speaking on Sunday, the county boss said that the BBI report is offering a leadership opportunity for the minority communities, hence declared his support for it.
He swore to crisscross the region to rally residents behind the report, expressing hopes that under the BBI, even the coastal people can provide a president in future.
“The recommendations contained in the BBI report have given us hope that even minority communities can take up leadership unlike now when people from major communities have taken over most senior leadership positions,” he said.
The flamboyant politician made the remarks during the wedding of Former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado's son in Malindi.
The governor called upon area politicians to rally behind the push and ensure that what locals would want in the document are included before the implementation phase commences.
He termed this as the time to shelve political parties affiliations and unite behind the report for the sake of the locals.
"We believe that one day, this region will produce Kenya’s President, but this can only happen if we walk together as leaders in the region because that is what will give us a voice,” added Joho.
