Since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, a section of Kenyans have considered that a deal breaker for DP Ruto in his quest of becoming the next president.
Claims by former Jubilee party vice-chairman David Murathe did worsen the situation as well.
However, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waiguru, speaking at Joy Celebration churches of Kenya in Naivasha, where he had accompanied the Deputy President William Ruto for a church service, he reiterated that the handshake is a game plan.
He insisted that he his following DP Ruto as he believes he is going to be the next president of Kenya.
In his opinion, the handshake is meant to bring balance and enable DP Ruto traverse even the opposition stronghold to further cement his chances of becoming the president.
"The handshake should not worry you, it's meant to bring balance so that the deputy President can strategize well, " said the governor amid cheers from the congregation.
"We know him (DP Ruto) as a very clever man, the handshake has enabled him to see and get support from all over the country including opposition strongholds " he added.
DP Ruto asked the leaders to focus their energy to achieve the Jubilee's development agendas.
Whether the handshake is a strategy working in favour or against DP Ruto, time will tell.
