Even as he focuses his effort on his next political move, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho remains optimistic that local politics that has left him isolated will not handicap his quest for presidency.
While speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Thursday, Joho downplayed the impact of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and other politicians from the region's open alliance with Deputy President William Ruto, a potential rival in the State House journey.
According to Joho, he is looking beyond local politics in his ambitious journey to the house on the hill.
"I'm not isolated. Some people read too much in politics. I'm not looking at the regional politics but national politics, thus, I have to go beyond the former," said the ODM deputy party leader.
Joho's open rivalry with Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has also left him politically vulnerable to Ruto's sustained onslaught of the region.
