The North Rift has long been ravaged by conflict fueled mainly by cattle rustling and banditry.

Conflict in the region has been an ongoing menace that successive governments have tried to combat without success.

Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i warned on Friday that ruthlessness would inform the approach to dealing with the cattle rustling menace.

"Regardless of anyone's position, tumekubaliana IG that we are going to adopt a very ruthless approach to this thing so that we sort it out once and for all, " the CS said.
