The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has given an update on the replacement of its Commissioner General.
The authority has already shortlisted five candidates from the Kenya among the top contenders for the post.
The shortlisted candidates are Duncan Otieno Onduru, Andrew Kazora Okello, Richard Buru Ndung’u, Julius Waita Mwatu and James Mburu. Okello is currently the regional advisor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) while Mburu serves as KRA Intelligence and Strategic Operations Commissioner.
According to the commission, the list of nominees for the post was reached after thorough scrutiny following advertisements. The current office holder John Njiraini after the completion of his term in office. He took over office in March 2012.
KRA advertised the vacancy on April 24 after President Uhuru Kenyatta extended Njiriani’s tenure by a year.
The top management has now called upon Kenyans of goodwill to share any relevant information about the candidates before the interview. The shortlisted candidates are expected to attend interviews before the final appointment.
“The applications were scrutinized for conformity with the requirements published in media advertisements following which the KRA Board approved 5 candidates for attendance of final interviews,” read a notice from KRA.
It emerged that a total of 30 candidates had applied for the post. Two of the candidates were female while the rest were male.
