The situation is relatively calm as dozens of people from across the country arrive for the burial.

Ms Otieno was murdered early last month by unknown people, before her body was discovered in Kodera Forest.Among those who have already arrived for the burial is Rongo Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Abuor.

The MP said that the constitution should be amended to have murder suspects denied bail.

"This will help victims get justice. The suspects should remain in custody until proven innocent," Abuor was quoted by the Nation.

Homabay Town MP Peter Opondo Kaluma is among political leaders expected to grace the burial. The MP doubles up as Ms Otieno’s family lawyer in the ongoing case of her murder.

Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado and his two aides, Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero are in custody after being linked to the murder.

They have denied murdering Sharon and her seven-months-unborn baby.

The three are due in court on October 24, where their application for bail will be determined.

Their case is being handled by High Court judge Jessie Lessit.
