Members of the Kalenjin Council of Elders have sent a special message to their Kikuyu counterparts demanding that they clarify on who Mt Kenya region will support in 2022 for the seat of president.
The elders who were speaking in Kapenguria on Sunday said their Kikuyu counterparts are yet to give them assurance that they will support Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid when 2022 comes.
"We want our Mt Kenya counterparts to come out clean and say the truth," Chairman James Lukwo said as he addressed the press.
"We want to know if they have abandoned us. They should be man enough to say if they will support our son or not."
There has been debate over whether Mt Kenya region will back Ruto's bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya's fifth President.
Some leaders from Mt Kenya region have been vocal telling the DP to forget the presidency assuring him that he will not get support in the vote-rich region.
According to an agreement Ruto signed with President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013, Ruto was to rally the Kalenjin community in voting for Uhuru and in 2022 Uhuru would do the same by rallying the Kikuyu voters to vote for Ruto.
