Traders operating in Keumbu market, Nyaribari Chache constituency in Kisii County have expressed their happiness to Kisii County governor James Ongwae after the opening the matatu stage in the area.
The traders led by their chairman John Sagero lauded the county boss for moving with speed to open the stage which has been hindering their businesses.
"We are happy that governor Ongwae has ordered the opening of the stage though temporarily because traders have been operating in fears due to the matatu congestion in the market," he said.
Mr Sagero said matatu will not be blocking customers entering the market to buy.
"Customers will easily be accessing the market to buy unlike in the past where matatus have been causing congestion. Traders will be selling their products freely without fear," he noted.
He added that unnecessary accidents won't be reported because traders will be safe while running their businesses.
"On Sunday traders nearly lost their lives when one matatu lost control along the highway. Ongwae has acted swiftly after our appeal to him. We are now happy because our votes did not go to waste," he added.
