This is after the former Vice President on Saturday joined campaigns to drum up support for his party candidate Stephen Kithuka, alongside a number of his (Kalonzo) allies.

But this has been questioned by Kithuka's competitors Alex Nzau (Jubilee), Mailu Mulonzya (Independent), and Musee Mati (Chapchap) who accused Kalonzo of stooping  too low.

"This heavy involvement by Wiper party signifies panic that their candidate is losing. Mr Musyoka is only setting himself for embarrassment because his candidate, who came a distant third, is losing again,” he said.

This is after Kalonzo led a delegation of Wiper party members in the campaigns, among them Senator Enoch Wambua, Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central), Julius Mawathe (Embakasi South) and Makali Mulu (Kitui Central).

The seat fell vacant after the Appellate Court's nullification of NARC candidate Felix Mbevo's election, after which the party refused to front another candidate, pledging to work with whoever wins.

But Mati says the party already has the majority in the county assembly and should not pay too much attention to the single seat.
