The book dubbed "Presidential or Parliamentary Democracy In Kenya?" was launched on Tuesday, in a function that was attended by a delegation of politicians and notable figures.

Among those present at the function held at the University of Nairobi included former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, one of the notable figures in the push for multiparty democracy.

In a tweet, the county boss said the book goes to all Kenyans who participated in the fight in one way or the other and other patriotic Kenyans who stood by the push.

"Dedication; To all Kenyan patriots who have struggled for democracy and good governance before and after independence. To all heroes of the Second Liberation some of whom lost their lives in the process championing democracy, human rights and social justice.#NyongoBookLaunch," he wrote.

The push basically revolved around attempts to suppress single party rule imposed on Kenya by the Nyayo regime under then President Daniel Moi and his KANU party.

Nyong'o and Raila were directly involved, with the others including Siaya Senator James Orengo, lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, lawyer John Khaminwa and former Kiharu MP Kenneth Matiba.

Nyong'o was personally exiled in Mexico, while Raila and ex-Subukia MP Koigi Wa Wamwere were prisoned.

Wamwere vowed to keep his dreadlocks until Moi left power.
