Three men are reported to have kidnapped a 12-year-old girl from Nyabera South Mugirango, Kisii and locked her up in a house where they defiled her for four consecutive days.
Confirming the incident on Monday, Bogetagonga assistant chief Jacob Oyugi said the girl went missing on Thursday last week after she was sent to a nearby shop.“Moraa has been missing since last week, Thursday. Her parents mobilised villagers and a search was launched until on Monday when she was found inside a house two kilometres from her home,” said Oyugi. The chief said upon questioning the girl, she claimed that three men, Samuel Omindi, Justine Mogaka and Zachariah Omwoyo kidnapped her and locked her in the house where they defiled her repeatedly. “She was weak when she was found in the room where she had been locked up by the three men. Her private parts were severely damaged and she was taken to Nyamache Hospital for treatment,” said the chief. He, however, said the suspects were not in the house when the girl was found.Oyugi warned men against taking advantage of young girls, adding that anyone found culpable will not be spared. He further assured residents that a manhunt had been launched for the three suspects, adding that they will soon be brought to book.Villagers who were angered by the incident said they would not allow the three suspects to return to the village.“We can’t risk living with the suspects in the same village. For the sake of ensuring our daughters are safe the suspects should either relocate from the village or be jailed for life,” said Margaret Ondigo, a villager. The victim’s father urged police to ensure the suspects are arrested and charged in court.“We have been having a hard time sleeping at night knowing our daughter was missing. Police should do everything possible to ensure my daughter gets justice,” he stated.
