National Resistance Movement (NRM) Kenya leader Dr Miguna Miguna wants President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli to visit the contested Migingo Island when the two tour Nyanza region.
Miguna is presently in Canada and has been throwing jabs at the president accusing him of orchestrating his troubles following the swearing in of opposition chief Raila Odinga on January 30.
"Uhuru and Raila should meet Magufuli in Migingo, not Nyatike," Miguna said in a tweet.
"The visit to Migori County by the Kenyan tyrant Uhuru Kenyatta, accompanied by his newly purchased bag carrier, Raila Odinga is an expensive public relation."
Uhuru, Magufuli, and Raila are expected to visit Nyatike in Nyanza although State House has not confirmed the date for the tour.
The tour was slated for last Friday but it was canceled in the last minute under unclear circumstances.
Nyatike where the three leaders will visit hosts Migingo Island which has been at the centre of diplomatic brawls between Kenya and Uganda.
Kenyan traders in the island occasionally accuse Ugandan security personnel of harassing Kenyan fishermen who sometimes get arrested.
In the run-up to the August 8, 2017, general election, three IEBC officials who had been dispatched to the island to register voters were arrested by Ugandan policemen. They were released after two days.
