Political analyst Prof Herman Manyora now says that the recent political union witnessed in Kibra might be a force against Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
ODM leader Raila Odinga was over the weekend seen with Ukambani governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) in the Kibra campaigns.
Manyora says that the former Prime Minister could be on a charm offensive against Kalonzo, his presidential running mate in the 2013 and 2017 polls, both of which they lost.
The commentator has based his argument on the fact that NASA trio fell out with him (Kalonzo), saying that this raises questions as to why Raila decided to bring them on board.
Speaking on Sunday night, he observed that Raila is trying to send a message to the former Vice President by embracing the three, who even helped him campaign for ODM candidate for Kibra, Imran Okoth.
"By bringing on board Kivutha Kibwana and Charity Ngilu, Raila Odinga is sending Kalonzo Musyoka a message. Remember there was a Kalonzo problem before," he said.
He made the remarks on Punchline on K24.
The three have not been in good terms with Kalonzo, and have lately been seen to gang up against him, apparently to topple his leadership in Lower Eastern Kenya, otherwise known as Ukambani region.
Mutua successfully defended his seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap party ticket.
Kalonzo and Raila allies have been firing shots at each other since Kalonzo skipped Raila's mock swearing-in on January 30, 2018, which saw him branded a coward by Raila's allies.
NASA affiliate member-parties ANC and Ford Kenya, have also accused ODM of refusing to share the political parties fund.
