Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has renewed her war of words with Interior and Coordination of National Government Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.
Speaking on Friday during an Inua Mama event in Murang'a County, the outspoken governing Jubilee Party legislator attacked the PS for making a post on social media on the progress of preparations for Mashujaa Day celebrations yet there was a woman trapped in a car at the Likoni Channel.
"There is somebody called Kibicho whose work is to post on social media telling us how the military officers are preparing for Mashujaa Day to flash salutes (Kuna mtu anaitwa Kibicho sijui kificho kazi yake no kuweka vitu kwa social media ati vile Kenya Navy watakua wanapiga saluti pale)," the senator said.
The government continues to come under criticism over what a section of Kenyans sees as a cavalier attitude towards the tragedy that occurred at the Likoni Ferry channel.
Kibicho's tweet informing Kenyans about the progress on the Mashujaa Day celebrations was interpreted as rather unfeeling.
The update came even before the recovery efforts had kicked off.
Part of the criticism levelled against the government is that members of the Kenya Navy were just metres away from the tragedy scene rehearsing for the Mashujaa Day celebrations slated for October 20.
Mariam Kighendi and her daughter Amanda Mutheu drowned on Sunday evening at the Likoni channel and efforts to recover their bodies have not yielded fruits.
