The Mandera MPs were accused of remaining in Nairobi and enjoying city comfort after almost all of them failed to attend Jamhuri Day celebrations on Wednesday in Mandera.

Lagsure MCA Robow Mohamed said all the six elected MPs and woman rep have forgotten about Mandera.

Mr Mohamed said the MPs have failed to represent the county at the national level and have chosen to remain silent instead of fighting for the interest of the electorate in Mandera.

All the MPs and woman rep failed to attend the Wednesday function and only Senator Mohamud Maalim attended.

“None of the Mandera leaders at the national level is interested in their home affairs. Our MPs who went to represent us at the national level have chosen to go silent and forget about our affairs back at home.”

“Other MPs have gone to their counties for this important event but none from Mandera has attended. We had a three-day Somali cultural event here and it was so shameful that an MP from Garissa attended when our own failed,” said Mr Mohamed as quoted by nation.co.ke.

Mandera County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Adan Ali called on the leaders from the county to work together to ensure there is development in the county.

“All leaders have to come together to take Mandera to the next level of development, something we have to do on time,” he said.
