Biashara Ward MCA Peter Njoroge Wanyaguthie has decried the few numbers of Biometric registration kits being used for the Huduma Namba registration.
Speaking at a function Nakuru on Wednesday, the MCA noted that many Kenyans are turning up for the exercise only to be subjected to huge queues owing to the fact that the kits are few.
He is now calling on the government to step in and ensure that there are additional kits for the exercise to succeed.
“For this exercise to be successful we need to ensure there are more kits for the registration. At the movement they are few and Kenyans are suffering having to wait for longer hours” said MCA Njoroge.
The MCA, however, appealed to residents to ensure they register for the Huduma Namba in order to help the government in terms of service delivery.
Since its rollout, Registration for the National Integrated Identity Management System (Niims) seems to fall short of netting its target due to challenges posed by the machines and network hitches.
The government is targeting to register 40 million citizens by May 17.
In his Easter message to Kenyans, President Kenyatta also announced that registration for Kenyans who live abroad will kick off on May 6 and will be conducted in embassies and consulates.
