The National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition will firmly remain intact despite the departure of Ford Kenya party from the political formation.
According to Ford Kenya Deputy Party Leader Boni Khalwale, NASA's agreement says the coalition can only collapse after two or more parties quit.
"The position is that in the NASA coalition agreement, now that Ford Kenya has formally withdrawn, it does not mean it (NASA) has collapsed," the outspoken former Kakamega Senator said on NTV's AMLive interview on Tuesday.
"The coalition agreement demands that two or more parties withdraw for the coalition to collapse. We have withdrawn and that was announced yesterday (Monday). So if another party does the same, that will be the end of NASA. So we will see whether ANC, Wiper and ODM will match on."
Ford Kenya officially withdrew from NASA on Monday and the position was announced by party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula while on a tour in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.
"As far as I am concerned, NASA is history. We supported our presidential candidate but he let us down and we cannot continue being part of history," Wetangula said.
NASA was formed in the run-up to the August 8, 2017, general election and the main parties that constituted it were Ford Kenya, Raila Odinga's ODM, Musalia Mudavadi's ANC and Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper party.
