Nairobians were among the few Kenyans who had an opportunity to witness a total lunar eclipse on Friday night.
The Geographical phenomenon was the second in 2018 and the longest in the 21st century having 103 minutes of the total eclipse.
According to Geographic experts, the lunar eclipse began on Friday 8:14pm and ended on Saturday 2:28am. However, Nairobi residents viewed it between 10:30Pm and 13 minutes past midnight.
The phenomenon was characterised by the moon turning its colour to blood red.
The super blood moon that combines a lunar eclipse, blue moon and super moon was last partially visible forming a penumbral eclipse in Kenya between 6:57pm and 7:08pm on the 31st day of January 2018.
Kenyans had last viewed a total lunar eclipse on September 28, 2015.
