Speaking in Makueni during a burial ceremony, Kalonzo called on Kenyans not to be worried by them but to celebrate the arrests.

"I feel in my spirit that the war on corruption must be won. There is no two-way traffic. In the coming days, when you hear big people have been arrested, don't be worried.

"Celebrate. Like I said a few days ago, if they are not arrests, then my brother Uhuru would have dropped the button, " the former vice-president said.

His statement comes amid a spate of arrests against high-profile individuals suspected of having involved themselves in corruption.

His utterances also come in the contest of a spirited national debate on the fake gold scandal that has seen a number of people arrested.

Former and current governors have been arrested and released on bail over claims of embezzlement of county funds.
