Conspiracy theorists now believe Deputy President William Ruto may have after all bankrolled Don Bosco Gichana's homecoming ceremony on Friday.
Fleets of expensive vehicles, three choppers and thousands of fans and Gusii stadium marked the culmination of Bosco's homecoming, after five years in Tanzania prison.
And since his release, Bosco has been meeting friends and political leaders with his meeting with DP William Ruto coming on Thursday, a day to the homecoming.
"Of course he could have had something to do with it. Everybody wants to have Bosco by his side. He's currently the Prince, and people want him by their side. You can't rule Ruto's influence out," says Gideon Mamboleo.
The presence of Oscar Sudi, the Kapsaret MP in the function could further give a clue on the possible involvement of the DP.
On Thursday, Sudi is the one who accompanied Don Bosco to Ruto's Karen office, where the three held a closed door meeting.
And upon his release from Tanzania where he had pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering, Bosco admitted that Ruto paid part of Sh15 million fine.
"Both Ruto and Raila along with Governor Ongwae and Sudi helped me pay the fine. We are close friends," he said.
And the Gusii stadium ceremony may have sent a signal of possible political clash in coming weeks as Mr. Gichana prepares to take the county politics by storm.
