Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen wants county governments to honour heroes and heroines.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator has revealed his plans to table the draft law, County Hall of Fame 2018 Bill at the National Assembly for discussion.
If adopted, the bill will see exceptional personalities in the nation rewarded for their efforts at the county level.
The bill, which is awaiting the second reading, is meant to inspire talents at various levels.
“Through this Act, there shall be a Hall of Fame in each county as an avenue through which the county governments shall provide a framework for the preservation of the history, heritage and culture of counties,” reads the Bill, as quoted by Standard.
The senator opines that time has come for the counties to celebrate these individuals in a special way more than they have done before.
He noted that recognising them will make other individuals in society to be inspired in different ways for the betterment of this.
The senator, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, lamented that many heroes are languishing in abject poverty even after putting the nation on the global map.
He is confident that the National Assembly will pass the bill as proposed.
