The most anticipated fixture in group C Kenya vs Tanzania Thursday late kickoff. A match between two East African teams, But who will come out on top? Here is a breakdown of the two teams.
Harambee Stars:
It has been a tough few days for Harambee stars losing to Algeria and having the possibility of missing Key defenders Joash Onyango and Philemon Otieno heading into the next game.
The group match between Algeria petered out in the first half with Kenya going 2-0 down. But after the break, Kenya played a fine second half, pressing the Algerians back and exerting pressure.
Whatever happens now, it is clear that the players responded very well in the last 45 minutes and will try to take these positives into the game against rivals Tanzania.
Taifa Stars:
Tanzania suffered in the hands of AFCON favourites Senegal losing 2-0 in the group stage opener. They were a goal behind before the half-hour mark, unable to get out of their own half.
The team got weaker as the game went on, it is clear that the players lacked cohesion.
They now have to regroup and compete with a Kenyan team which has camped together for the last month. Team chemistry may play a part in this matchup.
The bar has been set so high at the top with Senegal and Algeria headlining the group.
Kenya and Tanzania will have to contend for the best 3rd placed team in the group. Any slip in this match will send you packing home.
