After the disputed elections, Mudavadi was the chief beneficiary of the grand coalition government after landing Deputy Prime Minister post.

While also asking Raila Odinga for support, Ruto argued in Kakamega on Saturday that he deserves the support since he's 'nearly there'.

"I want you people to pray for me so that these two brothers ( Musalia and Wetangula) back me in 2022.

"It is good to ask in daylight. I supported them and one became Prime Minister ( Raila) and another one deputy ( Mudavadi). It is now their time to back me," he added.

Ruto, a charismatic politician who is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, has launched a major campaign in regions believed to be Raila's strongholds.

While it's not clear whether Raila will be on ballot, he has equally been traversing the nation preaching peace.
