A section of leaders from Nyanza region has announced that they will hold a public rally on January 10 in Kisii county to address their stand on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
This will be the first public meeting that leaders from the region will be hosting in connection with the report.
Six governors from Nyanza region on Thursday expressed their support for the BBI report.
The county bosses were, however, quick to add that it was important for the public to take part and express their views on the report.
"Whatever anybody has regarding what they think should be different in the BBI, that should not be held from the public domain it should remain in the public domain as a way of furthering the discourse of the BBI," Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o stated.
The announcement of a public rally by the Nyanza leaders comes shortly after leaders from the Western region announced a mega rally to be held on January 18 in Kakamega over a similar agenda.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya announced that the mega rally will involve all the leaders from the Western region.
Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli dismissed claims that the rally was political and clarified that the objective was to support the BBI report.
