The lawmakers say no other leader in Kenya today has the capacity to lead Kenya other than the Deputy President.

The MPs who attended a church service at Ngunga Catholic Church in Matungulu with Ruto on Sunday said they will walk with the former Eldoret North MP to the ballot in 2022 expressing optimism that the DP will clinch the presidency.

They included Machakos town's Victor Munyaka, Vincent Musyoka (Mwala) and Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East).

Their decision to back the DP may bring a brawl between them with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is also eyeing the presidency in 2022.

Musyoka has been categorical that he will be at the ballot come 2022 and expects opposition leader Raila Odinga to give him support.

Ukambani overwhelmingly voted for Raila in 2013 and 2017 and the Jubilee administration which Ruto is in received paltry votes in the region.

"We want to declare here that we are firmly behind Ruto in his journey to 2022 presidency and tell those who want to have the Constitution changed to block his bid that they will not succeed," Munyaka said at the church service as quoted by the Standard.
