Mombasa County remains under Johnston O. Ipara while Perminus M. Nyaga will man Lamu County.

Patrick Okeri will head Kilifi County as Tom Mboya Odero leads Kwale.

Taita Taveta and Tana River counties will be under Fredrick O. Ochieng and Saidi Mohamed respectively.

The changes were necessitated by a change in the command of the police structure. The initial command with three parallel bosses was collapsed as part of the ongoing reforms in the uniformed unit.

Initially, the Administration Police Service, the Director of Criminal Investigations and the Kenya Police Service had independent commanders of the same rank.

These three units have shared top positions in the county police command structure. The changes are expected to improve the security situation in the country.
