Politicians eyeing the presidency in the next general election have been warned against dismissing Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria who has also joined the race.
Political commentator Robert Kipkemboi has termed Kuria as a serious contender with high chances of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Kipkemboi, who vied for the Lang'ata parliamentary seat in 2017, said the vocal legislator enjoys a huge following from his populous Kikuyu community which is a huge advantage in his quest for power.
The analyst observed that Kuria would only need to be endorsed by a prominent politician such as ODM party leader Raila Odinga to be the next occupant of the State House.
"Moses Kuria is pushing on the Donald Trump attitude, he knows for sure that if he vies all Kikuyus will rally behind him. All he needs is a kingmaker like Raila Odinga, and losers like Musalia Mudavadi, Hassan Joho, ignore him at your own peril," Kipkemboi posted on his Twitter account on Thursday.
In an exclusive interview on Citizen TV, the Gatundu legislator exuded confidence in becoming Kenya's fifth Head of State saying he was sure of defeating even Deputy President William Ruto who is being widely touted as the front runner.
"Vote for vote, I will beat William Ruto and any other candidate; bring them on," he told his host Jeff Koinange.
The outspoken politician vowed not to back down on his bid and told his critics to prepare for his presidency.
"I will be in the ballot come 2022 and I will not play second fiddle to anybody; not even you Jeff. What makes you think I cannot be president?" Kuria posed.
